Shape a lifeless world.
Watch life find its own way.

A planet-evolution game for Windows · In development

01

The game

Pick a world and watch it form. Take over once it has water. Tune its star, air and oceans until it can host life. Then follow that life, or drop to the scale of a single cell and steer one lineage yourself.

P-01

Real models, simplified

Every system rests on a published model: energy balance, the carbon cycle, plate motion, population genetics. The equations keep their shape so a turn still reads in seconds.

P-02

Earth is one answer

Each world follows its own physics. Life does not copy Earth. It evolves under the same laws, so every planet grows its own tree of life.

P-03

Two scales, one world

Your cell eats what the planet makes. Your lineage changes the air the planet breathes.

P-04

Watch or play

Every stage runs on its own. Taking control of a cell is a choice, never a gate.

P-05

The ground moves

Plates split continents, raise mountains and open seaways. That decides where species live and when they split.

P-06

Life leaves fingerprints

You win at planet scale: the air drifts out of chemical balance because something lives there.

The cell editor: a list of this world's parts on the left, the cell under a microscope in the middle.
The cell editor. Every part has a generated name from its own world. Development build.
The specimen well: swimming cells under a brightfield microscope, with readouts of light, temperature and pressure.
The specimen well: one place on the planet, under the microscope.
A species page that lists each part of a cell, what it does, what it costs and where it came from.
A species page after a time skip.

Roadmap

Each milestone ends playable. Dates are not promised: this is a one-person project and the science comes first.

Now · the life prototype
  1. Faster time skips: places with the same conditions now merge (done, Oct 2026)
  2. Light: pigments pay by the real light of each place and star
  3. A new cell editor screen and a live time-skip screen
  4. Food from each place's own chemistry
  5. Migration between places, then the tree of life

Dev log

Made in the open: what changed, and what went wrong.

Neighbouring places now merge

Next-door places with the same conditions are now solved as one. Time skips run about 1.3 times faster, and places split again when their conditions drift apart.

The ecology solver converges

Three in four ecology solves used to stop before they had an answer. The rewrite makes them converge. It also showed a bug where one lineage took every place on the planet. It is fixed.

The same planet on every PC

The simulation's maths are now pure Rust, so the same seed gives the same world bit for bit on any PC and any Windows update.

Science

Every mechanism in the game is tagged with how sure science is about it.

Established E1

Textbook result with many independent lines of evidence.

Model-supported M2

Shown by published models. Plausible, but the numbers are uncertain.

Contested C3

Published but disputed. Shown in the game with a "contested" badge.

Speculative S4

A game assumption, used where science has no answer yet.
